Riverbend is a large community in southeast Calgary. Riverbend sits on an escarpment of the Bow River. The community received an average walk score of 52. It rated a 37 public transit score. The main bus routes run along Riverbend Drive SE, 18th Street SE, Riverglen Drive SE and 21st Street SE. Downtown Calgary is a 25 minute trip by car or 40 minute ride via public transit.

Description of  Riverbend 

Glenmore Trail is the northern border of Riverbend. 24th Street East is the eastern boundary, while Deerfoot Trail marks the western border. The Bow River runs along the northwestern edge of the community. The neighborhood of Ogden is north of Riverbend. The Ogden Shops Industrial Area is northeast of Riverbend, while Shepard Industrial is directly east. Douglasdale and Douglasglen are south of Riverbend, while Maple Ridge sits to the southwest. Homes for sale in riverbend has been really  pleasant this time of the year.

The Riverbend Community Association is located on Rivervalley Drive SE. It maintains a community garden and community association rink. The community association also supports children's theater, tutoring, fitness classes and a preschool. And residents get a discount to the Trico Wellness Centre.

Places you should Visit while living in Riverbend

Carburn Park sits on Riverview Drive SE. It is a mostly natural area, but it has pathways, three manmade fishing ponds, and ice skating. You can take a boat on the ponds as long as they are not motorized. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on leash. Carburn Park connects to Sue Higgins Park and the rest of the Bow River pathway system. The smaller Riverbend Park sits in the middle of the neighborhood. It hosts baseball diamonds and walking trails. Riverstone Park is located at the eastern end of the neighborhood. One of the attractions of Riverbend is the network of trails through the neighborhood that allow you to walk to the Bow River Pathway system through various greenbelt paths. The Calgary Rugby Union building is located off Shepard Road SE. Shopping and retail is concentrated along 18th Street SE.

Schools located in Reverbend

Riverbend Elementary is the neighborhood's public K-6 school. Holy Angels Elementary School serves this neighborhood. There are several preschools in Riverbend. The Ogden campus of the Almadina Language Charter Academy is a kilometer from this neighborhood.

 The oldest homes in Riverbend were built in the 1980s and 1990s. Less than five percent of Riverbend real estate consists of apartments and condos, though the neighborhood is seeing older homes torn down and replaced by low rise condos. There are many two bedroom condos in Riverbend, as well as three bedroom townhomes. The Dreamview Village is a 50+ condo community. Property redevelopment is resulting in many 1,200 and 1,300 square foot attached single family homes being built in Riverbend. You can find four bedroom attached homes and four bedroom (or larger) detached single family homes in this neighborhood. Many of these homes have finished basements that add to the bedroom count, while others have been updated with modern amenities and appliances. The most expensive Riverbend homes back onto the river. Homes in Riverview Landing, which sit on oversized lots alongside the river, command the highest prices.
